In the past year I've encountered much confusion about XML and the role of
databases. If you're among the confused, don't feel bad. XML is the
technology du jour and there's a steady stream of new information. Vendors
are competing for mindshare, so their white papers and product literature add
to the confusion about databases and XML servers. In addition, many
developers simply don't understand databases. To help reduce the confusion,
